How to Clean and Maintain a Cordless Vacuum Cleaner?
Lists
Regular cleaning and maintenance of the vacuum cleaner is extremely important. Because dust and dirt accumulate inside vacuum cleaners naturally over time. Failure to perform regular cleaning and maintenance can lead to loss of suction in a vacuum cleaner and eventually to its breakdown. So, it is therefore absolutely important to know how to handle these procedures at home. In case you need advanced maintenance, you should contact the technical service providers.
Here's what you need to do to keep the performance of your battery powered cordless vacuum cleaner at its best and extend the service life:
Unplugging the Appliance
As is widely known, electrical appliances must not be cleaned while they are still running or plugged in. Therefore, if you are going to clean your vacuum, you must first turn it off and then unplug it.
Also, a vacuum cleaner that has been running for a long time may have overheated. It may also be necessary to let it cool down for a while before immediately cleaning it.
Removing Dust and Dirt
The first step when cleaning your vacuum is to get rid of dust and dirt. The vacuum cleaner should be thoroughly checked and any build-up dust inside the vacuum must be removed by blowing air, brushing or wiping with a cloth.
If you prefer a damp cloth, make sure that all parts are completely dry before attaching them.
Empty The Bin or Replace The Dust Bag
Dust and dirt will accumulate in the vacuum cleaner's bin. This is why you need to empty the bin. This may vary for each model. An overfilled dust bag will lead to loss of suction in a vacuum cleaner as it will obstruct the air flow and the device will not be able to operate at its full capacity. Also, in some specific models, you may need to replace the dust bag.
Cleaning The Filters
Filters are the parts where dust accumulates over time. So, even if your filter is already a premium one, it will eventually become clogged, depending on how often you vacuum. This means filters must be regularly cleaned.
Washing the filter is possible for some models, but not for others. For some certain models, for example, you can wash the filter in lukewarm water after dusting. This is why you must always refer to the user manual and follow the instructions.
However, washing the filter does not mean the filter can be inserted into the machine while it is still damp. Once completely dry, you can insert it back into your appliance. Also, the filter and strainer are not dishwasher or washing machine safe and must not be hair dried.
It is therefore advisable to check the filter type just before the wash. You can also refer to the instruction manual supplied with your vacuum cleaner.
Here are the steps you need to follow to clean the vacuum cleaner filter on a regular basis;
Remove the vacuum cleaner from the charging unit and press the power off button for your safety.
Remove the dust bin. Empty the dust and dirt inside. Rinse the bin under running water and dry it all thoroughly.
Remove the filters and clean them following the instructions. You can usually remove the dust by gently tapping and wash it off with water. Do not insert the filters into the vacuum cleaner unless completely dry.
Remove the roller brush to clean it of hair and lint.
To clean the vacuum attachments (crevice nozzle, dusting brush, etc.), wash with water mixed with a little amount of detergent and wipe dry.
Wipe down the exterior of the vacuum cleaner with a damp cloth. Avoid water getting into the electrical parts.
Once all attachments are thoroughly dry, reassemble the vacuum cleaner.
Insert the vacuum cleaner into the charging unit and let it fully charge.
How to Contact Technical Support & Service Center
You can clean your vacuum on a regular basis following the steps mentioned above. However, this routine still remains as a basic cleaning. Thorough care and deep cleaning requires experience and know-how.
The best way to clean the vacuum motor is to contact the service center at regular intervals. In addition to regular maintenance, technical service center can also help the appliance operate more efficiently.
